Manifesto of Deface the Money

For an Independent Dance Commune

Dance is a culture. It is a form of expression, a mode of resistance, and a space for solidarity. Lindy Hop and other improvisational dances have historically reflected freedom, sharing, and collective energy. When dance becomes accessible only to certain groups, it harms the culture that grows through social solidarity. We believe in the necessity of establishing an independent dance commune so that people can find more social solidarity and accessible spaces to dance.

Who Are We?

We are an independent community of individuals who believe that art and dance should be accessible to everyone. We are building a community governed by people, not money; based on solidarity, not competition. Through free lessons, open jams, collective events, and community support, we make dance accessible to all. We also respect dance studios and dance workers and prioritize solidarity and cooperation with them.

Why Are We Here?
